One fun thing is, there's no limits on age, gender or nationality for these characters, they just need to be healthy enough to handle the related stress. So I really liked it when the idea of the fiery Grandmother Miki popped into my head. I'll also draw her when she was younger, because she and her spirit made a beautiful pair.

I haven't determined her use name yet, but this is a Gwarcheidwad who is partnered with a Dryad (an earth-based spirit for my purposes) named "Chusi". (Chusi is a Native American name meaning "Snake Flower".)

Her name is Minako Kudo. "Miki" to her friends; although Logan calls her "Obaba" (a Japanese term for great-grandmother, also a rude way of saying old woman, it's a running joke/friendship thing between them).
Miki comes from a Japanese family, but has lived in the US since she was very small, and considers herself an American, rather than a Japanese, woman.

She became Chusi's Gwarcheidwad when she was in her early 30s, and is now in her 60s. (So she's been doing the bit for around 30 years. Yes, this is longer than Logan/WindShadow has been doing it. Sophia shouldn't believe everything she's been told.)

Miki is very healthy for her age, and is frequently found tending her garden or doing yoga. She has a personality that is both fiery and motherly. (And I swear, i think that track suit might end up being bright pink, just because she would mess with people like that.)

Yeah. I was debating including the one elderly Guardian character. I knew I wanted a female with an Earth Spirt if I did, and possibly with an asian or middle eastern background. But I've very little practice drawing older characters. And drawing anime styled for so long does not lend well to it. Old and pretty does not work out in anime often, and I wanted her to have grandchildren, but still be pretty.

When I sat down to try drawing her, Miki almost imediately popped up with very little tweaking, and a lot more spunk than I had planned. I was planning to put the character in skirts and an apron, and in comes Miki with her bright pink track suit... Completely altering my plan. I love her.

I think i'm in love with this character already! :heart: she looks quite spunky, like my grandma (who happens to fit the descrip so much it's scary...)

Oh, I adore her already. :heart: She came in completely different from what I had planned with a life of her own.

She's like your grandma? That's so cool! Must be a handful.
